Flex Academies was created in 2011 by Joshua Chernikoff, the Founder and President of Ashley Tutors. Ashley Tutors began tutoring in area schools, and Joshua realized the market inefficiencies of school-run enrichment programs. Today, Flex Academies serves more than 80 schools in 6 states with before and aftercare programs, enrichment programs and summer and vacation camps.
Joshua is an education entrepreneur, creating two companies that transformed the educational market. He loves spending time with his wife and daughter in their neighborhood in Washington DC.
Matt previously was the program director for one of the largest school sports enrichment providers. He enjoys spending time with his family, rooting on the Washington Nationals and Buffalo Bills.
Previously, Karen was Vice President of the Julian Curtiss After School Program. Karen was also a British trained nanny!
Alissa previously was the Customer Service Manager for Flex Academies in NJ, CT, and NY. In her free time, she is a PTA president, enjoys spending time with family, and traveling.
Janine was previously an elementary school teacher, as well as a PTA president. She currently teaches yoga part-time and continues to volunteer on the PTA boards at her daughters’ schools and is a Greenwich Alliance for Education board member. She enjoys yoga, reading, tennis/paddle, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jessie was previously an elementary school teacher, team leader, and managed the enrichment program at a school in Fairfax County, VA. She enjoys being with family, baking and traveling.
Previously, Stephen had Youth and Program Director positions at the YMCA in Los Angeles, and The nZone Sports facility. He enjoys playing sports with his son, and cheering on the Buffalo Bills.
Linda was previously a PTA president, substitute teacher, and most recently, the Onsite Coordinator for the Flex Academies program at DC's Lafayette Elementary School. She enjoys spending time with her husband and kids, cooking, and rooting for the Washington Nationals.
Michelle was previously an elementary school teacher, as well as a writer and editor for a variety of educational publishing companies. She has served as a PTA board member, and enjoys traveling, volunteering, learning to play tennis, and spending time with her family.
