The founders of Flex Academies and The Lane Social Club have announced a unique partnership aimed at helping families during the pandemic. The joint venture is designed to solve the acute challenge of learning-based childcare and socialization for children during the pandemic.

Flex Academies is the rapidly growing premiere enrichment provider for schools in six states. The Lane Social Club is a family-friendly space for parents and kids, located in the Ivy City neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The partnership will bring Flex Academies’ successful camps, enrichment and tutoring to parents and kids at The Lane Social Club.

Flex Academies Founder and CEO Joshua Chernikoff says that Flex Academies will start by launching an on-site camp for small groups of kids at The Lane this month.

“Flex Academies and The Lane will offer a solution for parents whose kids do – or don’t – go back to camp. We’ll continue throughout the school year with enrichment and tutoring, and we are talking about expanding this nationally as well,” said Chernikoff.

“We started The Lane as a place to build fun and community for families with young children. Our goal was always to bring more joy and ease to the lives of families,” said The Lane Co-Founder Rachel Lubin. “Right now, what families need most is a safe learning environment for their children. Flex Academies has the expertise to provide meaningful learning experiences for kids, thus easing the stress of parents. We’re thrilled to have a partner that feels as strongly as we do about helping families.

The Lane Co-Founder Molly Nizhnikov says that for parents doing “triple duty” – parenting, working from home, and supervising their children’s online learning – there is a real need for relief right now.

Nizhnikov said, “People want to do something to help families in this stressful time, but everyone is exhausted. We feel this acutely – yet we need to dig deeper and find a way to move the needle to help our families. Our kids need and deserve that. We believe that our partnership with Flex will solve a small piece of the puzzle.”

Chernikoff agrees and is excited about the partnership.

“Combining our brand of high-quality enrichment with the Lane’s great location and network will result in a wonderful opportunity for families in our area. We can’t wait to give parents and kids a reason to take a break and smile again.”

Camp will follow all COVID-related CDC guidelines related to maintaining the safety of children and staff including separate groups of no more than 9 children, daily temperature checks of staff and children, regular hand washing breaks, frequent cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces and equipment, and masks worn by staff at all times.

Registration is available here.
