Flex Academies, a leader in safe, quality before and afterschool enrichment programs, has announced the creation of a unique afterschool offering for Julian Curtiss School in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Julian Curtiss School has a diverse student population that reflects the changing demographics of the United States. The school’s website showcases its diversity in its motto “60 Countries, 30 Languages, One Great School.” As the school’s population has changed, so have the needs of its families.

Flex Academies Founder and CEO Joshua Chernikoff praised what he called a true “team effort” by the school, PTA and Flex Academies to address the changing needs of Julian Curtiss families.

“Principal Trish McGuire recognized the need for an onsite program to meet parents’ afterschool needs,” he said. “Since Flex Academies is already at JC with our popular afterschool enrichment, an additional aftercare program was the perfect solution, and Flex was the perfect partner.”

The new offering is a first-of-its-kind afterschool program: It will allow parents to choose between afterschool care and afterschool enrichment for their children. Both will be offered at the school from 3-6 p.m., each school day.

“We are excited to be able to offer parents this wonderful option for their children,” said Julian Curtiss School Principal Trish McGuire. “Our parents work hard to provide for their families. We want to do our part to support them, as they are part of the JC family.”

“We enjoy coming up with ways to help schools meet challenges,” said Chernikoff. “And because JC was our first partner school in Connecticut, this is very special.”

Julian Curtiss School worked with the Greenwich Alliance for Education, a nonprofit organization that works closely with Greenwich Public Schools, to secure a grant to be able to subsidize the program for families in need. Flex Academies will run both the aftercare and enrichment programs and is working with the Julian Curtiss PTA to establish specific aspects of each.
