FLEX ACADEMIES EXPANDS INTO CONNECTICUT WITH PROGRAMS AT FIVE LOCAL SCHOOLS

Company Hires Two Local Parent Leaders to Manage Connecticut Programs

Washington, D.C. – Flex Academies has announced it will expand into Connecticut this coming Fall with partnerships at five local schools in Fairfield County. The company, which provides afterschool program management services to schools and Parent Teacher Associations, is very excited about their new partner schools in Fairfield County, Connecticut, says Flex CEO Joseph Olchefske.

“Our first partners in Connecticut all have a strong history of afterschool programs and school administrations that encourage families to use the time after the bell as enrichment. We are honored that these school partners have asked us to bring their students the kinds of high quality, exciting afterschool enrichment programming that Flex provides,” Olchefske said.

Flex will be partnering with five schools in Fairfield County for the 2015-16 school year, and will be adding other partner schools in future years. The Flex partner schools for 2015-16 are:

  • Fairfield Public Schools: Burr Elementary School, Timothy Dwight Elementary School and Roger Sherman Elementary School.
  • Greenwich Public Schools: Julian Curtiss School and North Mianus School.

Flex understands it is critical to have high-quality staff members in place locally to serve the program needs at each of their partner schools. Olchefske announced that Flex has chosen two highly qualified individuals to serve as the company’s lead representatives in Connecticut. These local members of the Flex team will be the day-to-day-contacts for parents, PTAs, school administrators, and vendors:

  • Cheryl Resnick – Resnick joins Flex as Regional Director and has been active in PTA activities at Julian Curtiss School in Greenwich since 2007. She has served as President and Treasurer of the Curtiss PTA and as Co-Chair of the school’s Afters Program, so she truly knows how afterschool programs can enhance learning experiences for children and broaden their horizons.
  • Karen Izzi – Izzi is joining Flex as Program Manager and has been a very active PTA leader at Julian Curtiss School for many years, including four years as Vice President of the school’s Afters Program. She was instrumental in running the school’s successful afterschool enrichment program that helps raise funds for the PTA while bringing fun, educational classes to students.

Olchefske indicated that Flex Academies saw that Fairfield County had “a very strong tradition” of active PTAs that had been managing afterschool programs for many years, so Flex’s services were “a natural next step” for those school communities. Both Resnick and Izzi are prime examples of the culture of afterschool programs in Fairfield County and the dedication of the local PTAs. He also noted that the partnership with Flex provides local vendors with opportunities to expand their networks, making the arrangement a winning one for all involved.

Flex Academies plans to work with a variety of local schools and school districts in the future to ensure that their afterschool programs will reflect the preferences and interests of each school community. What will not change, says Olchefske, is Flex’s commitment to providing fun, engaging, high quality activities to students in a safe and secure environment.
