Board of Directors


Joseph Olchefske has been a leader in the educational community for over twenty years, holding significant executive positions in for-profit, non-profit and public sector educational institutions. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Springboard Education, a Lexington, MA provider of extended day/ extended year learning programs for students in grades K-8. Prior to his role at Springboard, Joseph served as CEO of Flex Academies and was instrumental in the development of the company’s expansion strategy, especially into the Connecticut market. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Education and he recently completed a two-year term as Board President of the Education Industry Association, a national association representing the interests of K-12 education entrepreneurs. Prior to Flex Academies Joseph served as President of three different companies in the K-12 learning marketplace and as Superintendent of Seattle Public Schools from 1998 to 2003; as SPS Superintendent, he served as the chief executive officer of a public school system with 47,000 students and 100 schools. Mr. Olchefske began his career at the investment firm Piper Jaffray, where he spent 12 years as an investment banker in the firm's public finance department. He holds a BA degree from the University of Chicago and a Master’s degree from Harvard University.


Betina Turek is a performance-driven professional with twenty years of comprehensive expertise in organizational development, process improvement, and solutions agent in both, domestic and international markets. Currently, she serves as an operations professional for the Office of the Chairman at Deloitte USA. Prior to her consulting experience, Betina served as a human capital expert for a number of staffing agencies such as Clovis, Adecco USA, as well as for the Organization of American States, a non-for-profit international organization in a multilateral modernization project that impacted the organization and the nations in the region it serves.

Before moving to the management consulting space, Betina worked for a number of television networks such TV Azteca, Telemundo, and the International Broadcasting Bureau as a news producer.


Jeff Resnick recently joined the advisory board of Flex Academies where he brings almost 25 years of finance experience to Flex. Jeff started his career in Public Finance where he worked for Dain Bosworth for three and a half years as an investment banker. Jeff has spent the last 20 years working in High Yield Trading. He was employed at Bank of America from 1996 - 2009 and ran the High Yield desk from 2005-2009. He has been at Royal Bank of Canada from 2009 - present working in a similar role. Jeff is also active in fundraising and alumni interviewing for his alma mater Stanford University. Additionally, Jeff assists in various volunteer roles in his community. Jeff has an AB in Economics and a BA in Biology from Stanford University as well as an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
